Parking in Worthing has changed quite a bit over the past couple of years.
Some car parks have closed, prices increased in August 2026, and a few long-standing parking options are no longer available at all.
So, whether you are heading into town for shopping, going to the seafront, visiting the hospital, grabbing dinner or just trying to find somewhere cheap to leave the car for a few hours, here is our updated Worthing Parking Guide for 2026.
We have included the main town centre car parks, current prices, evening and Sunday rules, and a few useful local tips.
High Street Multi-Storey Car Park
High Street remains one of the main options for parking close to the eastern side of Worthing town centre.
The car park is open 24 hours a day.
Monday to Saturday parking currently costs up to £13.40 for the day, while the maximum Sunday charge is £6.20.
One of the biggest advantages is evening parking.
Parking is free between 10pm and 6am.
This makes High Street a useful option for people visiting restaurants, bars or evening events in the town centre.
Drivers should be aware that accessibility has been affected by ongoing works, and step-free access can be limited when the lift is unavailable.
Buckingham Road Multi-Storey Car Park
Buckingham Road is another large town centre car park and is particularly handy for the western side of the centre and Worthing railway station.
The maximum Monday to Saturday charge is currently £13.40, with a maximum Sunday charge of £6.20.
Like High Street, parking is free between 10pm and 6am.
The car park is open 24 hours.
For anyone coming into Worthing for an evening meal, show or event, Buckingham Road can therefore be one of the better-value central options.
Civic Quarter Multi-Storey Car Park
The Civic Quarter car park is useful for Worthing Hospital, the Assembly Hall, Worthing Town Hall and the surrounding area.
Monday to Saturday parking costs up to £13.40, while Sunday parking costs up to £6.20.
Unlike High Street and Buckingham Road, however, Civic Quarter is not free overnight.
Parking between 10pm and 6am costs up to £3.70.
It is also worth checking bay restrictions carefully, as parts of the car park are reserved or restricted for NHS and council use.
Teville Gate Car Park
Teville Gate remains one of the better-value options for longer stays close to the town centre.
All-day parking is currently £7.40.
Between 6pm and 8am, the maximum charge is £3.60.
The car park is open 24 hours a day.
For commuters or anyone staying in town for several hours, Teville Gate can work out considerably cheaper than some of the central multi-storeys.
Montague Centre / Liverpool Gardens Car Park
This is one of the most central parking options in Worthing, with easy access to Montague Street and the main shopping area.
That convenience does come at a price.
All-day parking is currently £17.
The evening and overnight maximum, between 6pm and 6am, is £5.05.
The car park is open 24 hours.
It is probably best suited to shorter town centre visits where convenience matters more than finding the cheapest option.
Beach House East and West
For the seafront, Beach House Park and the eastern side of central Worthing, the Beach House car parks remain useful options.
All-day parking is currently £9.
The maximum overnight charge is £3.60 between 6pm and 6am.
Both car parks are open 24 hours.
Brooklands Parking
Brooklands remains one of the cheapest council-run parking options in Worthing.
The three council parking areas at Brooklands currently cost just £3.40 for the whole day.
Parking overnight is free.
This is obviously much further from the town centre, but for people visiting Brooklands Park itself it remains very good value.
Drivers should note that the EV charging points at the Western Road site are currently listed as temporarily unavailable.
Lyndhurst Road West
Lyndhurst Road West provides parking close to Worthing Hospital and the eastern side of the town centre.
The current all-day charge is £10.20, with a maximum overnight charge of £3.60.
It is important not to confuse this with Lyndhurst Road East, which is reserved for NHS use and is not a general public car park.
Marine Crescent
Marine Crescent offers something increasingly rare in Worthing - free parking.
Parking is currently free for up to four hours.
There is a no return within two hours restriction on the same calendar day, so it is not suitable for leaving the car all day.
For shorter visits to the seafront and western Worthing, though, it can be a very useful option.
Worthing On-Street ParkingWorthing's controlled parking zones can look confusing, but the main town centre rules are fairly straightforward once you know how they work.
Zone A
Zone A covers much of central Worthing.
Pay-and-display, permit and shared-use bays are controlled Monday to Saturday between 9am and 6pm.
The current pay-and-display charge is £2 per hour.
Outside those controlled hours, those bays are generally free unless another restriction applies.
Always check the signs on the street, particularly where yellow lines, loading restrictions or individually signed bays are present.
Zones B and C
Zones B and C also operate Monday to Saturday between 9am and 6pm for pay-and-display, permit and shared-use bays.
The current pay-and-display charge is £1.90 per hour.
There are also some longer-stay bays.
Shelley Road has four-hour parking available for £1.20, while four-hour parking is also available on Marine Parade opposite Heene Terrace and around Splashpoint.
Zones D to N
Many of Worthing's outer controlled parking zones operate for much shorter periods.
Typical permit restrictions are:
Monday to Saturday, 10am to 11am and 2pm to 3pm.
These restrictions are mainly designed to prevent all-day commuter parking in residential streets.
Some streets have longer restrictions, so individual signs should always be checked.
There are also some pay-and-display exceptions, including:
- Christchurch Road - £1.70 per hour
- Homefield Road - £1.90 per hour
- Railway Approach - £1.20 per hour
Outside the stated controlled periods, parking may be free, but individual yellow lines, loading restrictions and specially signed bays can still apply.
Is Parking Free in Worthing on Sundays? In many on-street town centre locations, yes.
Pay-and-display, permit and shared-use bays in Zones A, B and C are generally not controlled on Sundays.
Other restrictions - including yellow lines, loading restrictions and individually signed bays - may still apply, so always check the roadside signs.
Council car parks are different.
High Street, Buckingham Road and Civic Quarter all still charge on Sundays, with a maximum Sunday fee of £6.20.
Is Parking Free in Worthing in the Evening?Sometimes.
High Street and Buckingham Road are both free between 10pm and 6am.
Civic Quarter still charges overnight, with a maximum of £3.70.
Teville Gate, Beach House and Lyndhurst Road West also charge reduced evening or overnight rates.
For on-street parking, many town centre pay-and-display, permit and shared-use controls finish at 6pm, although yellow lines, loading restrictions and other restrictions may continue.
Grafton Car Park Remains ClosedThe former Grafton Multi-Storey Car Park remains closed.
It originally shut in May 2025 because of deteriorating concrete and safety concerns, including the risk of falling debris.
The council has since confirmed that it will not reopen in its current form before redevelopment.
The estimated cost of the basic work needed to make the car park safe for reopening has been put at at least £17.1 million.
Union Place Car Park Has Closed PermanentlyUnion Place car park closed permanently on 5 March 2026 as work progresses on the Union Gardens development.
The small High Street surface car park opposite Waitrose has also closed as part of the redevelopment.
Plans for Union Gardens include new public parking in the future.
The current proposals include a new 236-space car park, with 146 spaces intended for public use, targeted for summer 2028.
Upper High Street Car ParkThe private car park at Upper High Street is now operated by Times24.
Current prices are:
- 1 hour - 95p
- Up to 2 hours - £1.90
- Up to 3 hours - £2.85
- Up to 24 hours - £5.95
It is open 24 hours and is one of the cheaper options close to the eastern side of the town centre for longer stays.
Payment is cashless through RingGo.
Which Worthing Car Park Is Cheapest? For an all-day stay close to central Worthing, Upper High Street at £5.95 and Teville Gate at £7.40 are among the cheaper options.
For anyone visiting Brooklands, the council car parks there are just £3.40 for the day.
Marine Crescent is free for up to four hours.
For evening parking, High Street and Buckingham Road are particularly useful because they become free after 10pm.
Worthing Parking Prices Changed in August 2026Worthing Borough Council increased a number of parking charges from 24 August 2026.
The prices in this guide reflect those updated tariffs.
The Town Centre Worker and Hotel Guest parking concession also increased and is now £7.25 plus a 25p administration or convenience charge.
Our Local Parking TipsIf you are just popping into town, on-street parking can often be the easiest option.
For several hours or an entire day, Teville Gate or Upper High Street can work out much cheaper than the most central car parks.
For evenings, High Street and Buckingham Road are particularly useful if you are likely to stay beyond 10pm.
If you are heading to Worthing Hospital, make sure you check whether you are entering Civic Quarter, Lyndhurst Road West or an NHS-only area, as the rules and charges are different.
And if you are parking in a residential controlled zone, never assume every street follows exactly the same rules.
Always check the sign next to the bay before walking away from your vehicle.
Parking restrictions and charges can change, and temporary suspensions can also be introduced.
This guide was updated in September 2026 and checked against the latest available information from Worthing Borough Council, West Sussex County Council and individual parking operators.
